Cows and Their Benevolence To Humanity Volume 3 Ready
What if God took up the practice of cow keeping, what would it look like?
What would we learn about the care for cows and what would the practices be?
This is the scenario depicted in the early chapters of the tenth canto of the Srimad Bhagavatam. Krishna who is the Supreme Personality of Godhead descended to relieve the distress of the cows, brahmanas, demigods and devotees. In his childhood activities He behaved like a cowherd boy tending calves and later cows and bulls. What He did is a level of excellence to contemplate and implement in our own endeavours to care for and protect cows.
During our exploration of key verses in the tenth Canto that describe the daily practices
of Krishna’s cow herding we will learn much and wonder what we can follow today. In
our study of these verses we will consider how much we can practice today. What mod
ern modifications are suitable for our time without breaking any key principles. How can
we produce milk, use all the products of the cows and engage the neutered males in work.
These will discussed as we examine each of the verses systematically in the wonderous
Srimad Bhagavatam.
There will be many topics to derive wonder from such as how cows are kept for their
whole life; how calves get their share of the milk leaving much surplus for humanity;
how the males can be properly used for breeding an improved bovine race or neutered for
engagement in agriculture and transportation.
