Almviksgaard Sweden

This farm has 10 cows and 4 oxen.

The cows are milked by hand twice a day. Currently they are producing 10 to 12 litres of milk each day from 4 milking cows. There have not been any calves born for a few years and still the cows are producing milk daily.

One heifer gave milk without even having a calf. The cows have all been giving milk for well over 4 years as it was 4 years ago since the last calf was born.

There are 4 oxen that are trained to some degree. This is one particular area of the farm that needs developing.

For sick cows there is a roof hoist for lifting and turning any cows that can raise themselves.

During the winter the cows have access to covered barns and can wander in and out onto the snow if they want.
